The Waiting

Today was the first day of our "waiting game". Our sole purpose to visit Vietnam right now is bringing Lucy home. We had been told we'd have an opportunity to take a step in that direction today by signing some papers at the Justice Department in Ho Chi Min City. So until today there was nothing to do but visit the orphanage and walk around the city, trying to enjoy the sites (which are so wonderful and amazing, it just feels out of context to be site seeing when you are wanting to spend your time mothering...). So this morning we felt hopeful that we would take our first step toward Lucy's coming home. This, however, was not to be. Our great facilitator, Lien, spoke with us this morning and said for some reason we were not on the schedule to go to the justice department today. Our first set back. We shouldn't be surprised, or even frustrated, but we definately felt disappointed. We hope it is only a delay by a day or so, but a delay it has been indeed.

We did get to visit with Lucy today in the orphanage, and it was wonderful as usual. After hearing we would not sign papers we arrived at the orphanage a tiny bit down hearted. But, once we entered Lucy's room, the nannies hurriedly went to Lucy and changed her diaper so we could hold her in our arms. The moment I picked her up she looked at me and began to squeel and "talk". With great joy and satisfaction I listened to her sounds, believing in my heart they were messages of good news to come-a little hope from our baby girl letting us know things will be o.k.-Out of the mouths of babes they say...

so we wait, and wait, for hope of a new day when we can see our little one again and hopefully sign the papers that mean we are steps closer to bringing her home.

Great Ggrandma and Grandpa Read

we are so proud of you guys, going out among the people and learning about their city etc. Glad to hear about Church there. Katie some of the first missionaries in Vet.were
sent from The Hong Kong when Mark was there. Isn't it wonnnderful when you think of all people who have gone befor us to make it possible for us to enjoy the Gospel in our lives, I wonder quite often what Jane Ann Mcpherson would think of what you are doing. She not only gave birth to 13 children who all lived to adulthood but she raised 3 of Grandpa Macs brother's children.
Without running water or lights. Love to all.
