And Then There Were Six

Crazy Buzy

Can you say decapitated chickens? 'Cause that is what we will look like today running around to finish off departure preparations. We had 32 "MUST DO" items before we could leave town. Despite the obligation to lifeguard for a dozen elementary aged children yesterday, and John's crunch to prepare in one day to leave work for up to 3 weeks, we really got a lot done. Unfortunately, it seems that for every item checked off our list we had to add another. So at the end of a very long and busy Friday our list had 29 "MUST DO" items. Several of which involve leaving home-errands if you will. Errands at our house don't go very well. When one parent leaves the other alone the other is incapacitated due to their need to nurture and care for the children left behind. When one takes children with her on errands, her capacity to complete the errands in a reasonable amount of time is diminished because she spends countless minutes negotiating with the children concerning how they must behave while on the errands or explaining why the errands don't include trips to the ice cream store or why the errand to the toy store is not about purchasing a new game/lego set/doll for the child who is on the errand (o.k., that one just plain involves hefting the screaming child out of the toy store while other mothers sigh and feel sorry for you because they've been there/done that too.)

so, crazy busy. That will be this day, and then a day of rest tomorrow (or at least a day of quietly and reverantly trying to pull the ox out of the myer) and then across the ocean to Lucy. I'm glad to be crazy busy today...

Yeah Katie! Tomorrow's the big day. Just look at your to do list and do only the absolute MUST DOs and let the others go. No use getting to Vietnam and collapsing when that's the time you'll most need your strength. My prayers and heart goes with you. Please let me know if you need some company -- I'll be there in a flash!

Love,

Susie
