And Then There Were Six

A tale of John's and Katie's big adventure in bringing Lucy home from Vietnam.

John captures my joy at Lucy's coming out of the orphanage.

Lucy's First Bath! It is difficult to explain the need a mother has to keep her kids clean! It felt so good for me to scrub Lucy's hair, clean her little hands, and wash her face. I think she liked it too, with her sweet coos and giggles. The smell of baby shampoo and lavendar lotion conjurs all my deepest mothering insticts. What a darling baby!

Look Bryn! Look Madi! Lucy is wearing her bracelet.

Before I left for Vietnam I asked a neighbor to create matching bracelets for all the Graham girls. I promised my girls left behind that I would wear my bracelet every day to remember them, and that as soon as I could I would give Lucy hers. After a bath, a scabbies treatment and a good night's sleep, the time had come. So, Lucy is now initiated into the Graham sisterhood. Posted by Picasa
